Since its debut in 1980, this has been the quintessential flagship of Dewasazakura, cherished by sake lovers for decades. Often credited with the phrase "This is the sake that opened my eyes to the world of Nihonshu," it paved the way for the "Ginjo Boom" in Japan. Acclaimed for its fruity ginjo bouquet and refreshing palate, its influence extends far beyond the brewery. It was famously used as a scent reference for Max Factor’s "SK-II" cosmetics and became the first-ever sake carried by Berry Bros. & Rudd (BB&R), Britain's oldest wine merchant and purveyor to the Royal Family. To this day, it continues to evolve as a timeless classic.

About The Brewery

Dewazakura Sake Brewery Co. (出羽櫻酒造)

Founded in 1892, Dewazakura is celebrated as the "Pioneer of Ginjo Sake." In 1980, they released the iconic "Oka Ginjo," a landmark move that introduced the fragrant, refined Ginjo style—previously reserved for competitions—to the general public, sparking the modern Ginjo boom in Japan.

Dewazakura is renowned for its magnificent floral aromas and crisp, clean profile. A leader in quality control, they were among the first to implement long-term, low-temperature maturation (aging). Their excellence is recognized globally; Dewazakura was the first sake to be sold at Selfridges, the prestigious British royal warrant holder, and has twice achieved the historic feat of winning "Champion Sake" at the International Wine Challenge (IWC). By harmonizing Yamagata’s terroir with relentless innovation, Dewazakura remains a definitive icon of premium Japanese sake.
