About The Brewery
Satsuma Shochu Works (小牧醸造)
Founded in 1909 in Satsuma, Kagoshima, Komaki Jozo is a historic family-owned distillery with a legacy spanning over a century. Located along the Sendai River, the distillery has survived numerous floods, embodying a philosophy of "symbiosis with nature." They craft premium shochu using local Kagoshima sweet potatoes and pure subterranean water from the Shibi Mountains. Their lineup includes the traditional "Isekichidon" and the innovative "Issho" series, known for its unique yeast-driven aromas. Recently, Komaki Jozo has expanded into whisky distilling, blending centuries of shochu expertise with global spirit trends to pioneer the future of Japanese craft spirits.
