Located in Murakami, the northernmost castle town in Niigata Prefecture, Taiyo Sake Brewery is a distinguished institution built upon a profound legacy of unity and tradition. In 1945, amidst challenging times, 14 historic local breweries—the oldest of which traced its roots back to 1635 during the Edo period—merged to preserve the region's rich brewing heritage. This historic unification gathered centuries of collective wisdom and craftsmanship, laying the unshakeable foundation for the brewery we know today.
