The Story
From the Tsunami to Morioka
The origins of Akabu Shuzo trace back to Otsuchi Town, Iwate, but the brewery was completely devastated by the 2011 tsunami. However, their spirit remained unbroken. Led by the 6th-generation head, Shuho Furudate, the brewery found a new home in Morioka City in 2014. This "Revival Brewery" is more than a production site; it is a symbol of love for their hometown and the hope of reconstruction. Every drop of AKABU carries the resilient strength of those who rose from despair.
The Sake
Samurai Spirit and Modern Evolution
The brand "AKABU" derives its name from the fusion of family heritage and the samurai spirit. Its iconic crimson helmet logo signifies the courage to challenge a new era. Led by Master Brewer Ryunosuke Furudate, AKABU pursues a flavor profile that "transcends tradition and continuously evolves." Their mission is not just to brew delicious sake, but to build a Japanese brand that resonates globally. The sake is crisp, vibrant, and bursting with fruitiness—possessing the sharp precision of a samurai’s blade tempered with silky elegance.
The Sake
The Precision of Young Artisans
What truly sets Akabu Shuzo apart is the incredible youth of its brewing team. Led by Ryunosuke, who was under 30 when he took charge, the team has an average age in the 20s. They have traded outdated empiricism for rigorous data management and sensory experimentation. Wearing modern workwear instead of traditional robes, they obsess over every degree of temperature in a high-energy environment. This fusion of "passion and precision" has propelled AKABU to sweep prestigious awards within years, making them the vanguard of the modern sake movement.
