The Story
Rooted in Fukiage for 180 Years
Before us lies an endless horizon, where the winds from distant continents sweep through. This is Fukiage Town, the home of Nishi Shuzo—located at the heart of the west coast of Kagoshima’s Satsuma Peninsula, facing the East China Sea and cradling
The Sake
An extension of agriculture
Fukiage-hama dunes, one of Japan's three major sand dune systems.
In this quiet town of 10,000 residents spanning 97 square kilometers, nature thrives. Every year from May to July, nearly 50 sea turtles land on Fukiage-hama—recognized as one of Japan’s "100 Best Beaches"—to lay their eggs. Under the watchful eyes of this community, we have continued our craft for 180 years.
We believe that sake brewing is an extension of agriculture.
Everything we create is born from the scenery we look upon every day.
We never brew in a place beyond our sight.
The Sake
Natural order
Our "dedication" (Kodawari) as an "Artisan Group of Love," and the "natural order" (Kotowari) guided by Kagoshima’s environment, are all gifts from heaven. With sincerity and integrity, we will continue to face the terroir of Kagoshima, pouring our souls into the pursuit of truly exceptional sake.
